Search-engine optimisation (SEO)
There's no point in building a website if nobody finds it. That's what got me started in SEO, which is the process of affecting how visible a website or a webpage is in a search engine like Google. I have extensive experience in the field (13+ years) that goes beyond 'run-of-the-mill' practices like keyword research, indexation, optimising content, back-linking, etc. and into advanced-level SEO concepts and techniques, such as domain authority stacking, 301/302 redirects, cloaking, etc.
Penetration testing (or pentesting) is a process whereby a computer system (such as a web application) is purposely 'attacked' on behalf of its owners, with the intention of finding possible security weaknesses. The potential impact of these weaknesses are then reported back to the owner, along with proposed countermeasures to reduce or eliminate the identified risks. If you store sensitive data anywhere on your website, I can find out if you are vulnerable to hackers and others with evil intentions before they steal from you and your customers!
At my day job, I'm a frontend developer at the Waterford offices of International Living (IL), the flagship publication of Agora, Inc., a US-based international publishing company. Most of the time, I'm working on IL's massive 20,000-page website… its range of international conferences… or its growing suite of over 115 premium digital and video products. However, I still do interesting web projects on a freelance basis too. If you'd like to work with me on something (or just want to say hello… I like that too!), please get in touch.
